Distance
A sculpture piece I made using clay and wire, mounted on a wooden base. This piece was meant to emulate the difficulty of maintaining relationships over a long distance. The larger hand is modeled after my boyfriend, and the smaller hand is after me. I first modeled the general shape using wire, then affixed clay to the wire skeleton. I cut the wooden board the sculpture is mounted on myself, intentionally creating an asymmetrical cut that didn't quite fit.
Amphibians In The Kitchen
A fun little project I did to dabble in Spot Illustration. I used the prompt “Amphibians in the Kitchen” to inspire my work. I wanted to dramatically simplify the depiction of both kitchen tools and amphibians in my work, while still maintaining a feel of whimsy in the amphibians as they messed around with the kitchen tools.
Value Study
This was a piece I did to practice different values and shading. We created our own still lifes, three different iterations, and had to replicate each iteration to our paper through visual reference only (no photos). Each iteration had to be assigned High Key, Middle Key, and Low Key. From there we would shade each drawing accordingly.
Jeffrey Bezos
A “portrait” of Jeffrey Bezos, intended to poke fun at him. I intentionally exaggerated features such as his large head, ears, and mismatched eyes to further the ridicule. I also added extra details to liken him to King Midas from Greek Myth as a way to emphasize his fixation on wealth.
Omelas
An illustration meant to serve as a book cover for the short story The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas. I intentionally created Omelas to look beautiful and dazzling, whilst still allowing ambiguity in the shadowed humanoid figure. Due to the central theme of the book, I intentionally made it unclear if the person shown is walking towards or away from Omelas.
